Educator Read Aloud Video Attribution and Permission Policy

We love seeing our stories shared with children, families, and classrooms. To make this easy, we grant permission for educators, librarians, and content creators to record and share read-aloud videos of the On the Reef book series without requiring written permission or prior notification.

What You Can Do

You may record and post non-commercial read-aloud videos of our books on platforms such as:

• YouTube
• Social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
• Classroom portals (Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.)
• School or library livestreams

Conditions

When sharing a read-aloud video, please give the following attribution:

• Credit Melanie Atkinson (author).
• If possible please include a purchase link to the book, either on Amazon or PerthLight.com.au. You may include your own Amazon affiliate code link.
• Present the story and illustrations as published, without alteration or edits.
• Keep your video free to access (no paywalls or subscription-only content).

What’s Not Allowed

• Selling or distributing copies of the book or illustrations.
• Using the material in translations, adaptations, or commercial projects without our permission.
• Creating a commercial website incorporating our text or illustrations.

Why We Do This

We believe read-alouds help children connect with stories and bring more families to our books. By allowing and encouraging read-aloud sharing, we hope to support educators, families, and fellow storytellers.
